True Colours. Saturday September 12, 2015

My daily walk is to school and back before I start work.

Yesterday was the usual initial refusal to walk by number one child, along with the excuse her shoes were hurting which was probably true.

My city is not well known for its beauty but our walk to school is truly beautiful. After the moans and silence we saw a magic ring of mushrooms, a heron and this was topped by meeting our favourite lurcher on his walk with the owner. This lovely lady gave number one child a treat to feed him and then we were there.

I power walk back and then are fit for the day, as much as I ever will be!!

Last Sunday Cyndi Lauper's song "True Colours" came on the radio, I danced round the kitchen, remembering that I had this on an old tape, and sung to number one child, "You are beautiful, like a rainbow".

I find beauty in my big city and my daily walk keeps me sane. My challenge to you is "Can you sing that to yourself today?" You are beautiful, like a rainbow"...

Hi BM! That's so much for the reminder - I love that song ;-) Going to play it today and sing my heart out! Thanks for a beautiful start to the day xx

Have only just stopped singing 'what have you done to make you feel proud' !! Guess I'll be singing 'True Colours' all day today!
Thanks Brum Mum...there are so many beautiful things to see on my daily dog walks...and I try not to take them for granted: herons, robins, the kingfisher....the changing tree colours now are starting to become dramatic and alive - and that's how I shall try to be today, well, perhaps not too much drama!!
Good blog post! K x x x

Ah, Cyndi Lauper or Phil Collins? Now, that's a question. What better lesson than to be true to your own colours, and then see the true colours in everything else and in everyone else?
Brum Mum, you are beautiful, like a rainbow...

I meant to comment on this on Saturday but I was swept away with the day. I love this blog. Particularly love how you found beauty when many think there is none to be found. I find that is pivotal to so many things. I adore this song. I've only heard Cyndi singing it Lex, and so I'm off to find Phil's version. Thank you Brum Mum, love ratg x.
